Palm Sunday
John 12:1-19; Luke 19:41-44
In his book, The Man Who Mistook His Wife For A Hat, neurologist Oliver Sacks describes a patient who suffered from agnosia. He was unable to recognize familiar objects and people. After one session, he reached over and grabbed his wife’s head because he thought it was his hat. Imagine how difficult it would be to live with this disorder.
However, there is a much more significant recognition ‘disorder,’ and that is the story of the people who knew Jesus when he was on earth. The religious leaders, political authorities, his disciples, and virtually everyone else sought Jesus for one reason or another. Some sought him hoping he was their deliverer, others to end his life. Regardless of their reasons, most people misidentified who Jesus was -call is spiritual agnosia.
In this message, we’ll look at Jesus’ triumphal entry into the city of Jerusalem, and learn how we can avoid missing Jesus’ true identity.
